Rahul Dev Burman, popularly known as R.D. Burman, was an iconic Indian music composer who worked in the Bollywood film industry. He was born on June 27, 1939, in Kolkata, India, and passed away on January 4, 1994.
Burman was the son of renowned music composer Sachin Dev Burman and started his music career as an assistant to his father. He made his debut as a music composer with the film Chhote Nawab in 1961 and went on to compose music for several hit Bollywood films.
