Asha Bhosle is a legendary Indian playback singer who has contributed to Indian film music for over six decades. She was born on September 8, 1933, in Sangli, Maharashtra, India.
Asha Bhosle started her career as a playback singer in 1943 at the age of 10. Her first song was “Chala Chala Nav Bala” for the Marathi film “Majha Bal” (1943). She went on to sing for several other Marathi films before making her debut in Hindi cinema with the film “Tamanna” (1949). In her illustrious career, Asha Bhosle has recorded over 12,000 songs in several Indian languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Urdu.
Asha Bhosle is known for her versatile singing style and has sung a wide range of songs, including romantic ballads, peppy dance numbers, and soulful ghazals. Some of her popular songs include “In Aankhon Ki Masti” from “Umrao Jaan,” “Dum Maro Dum” from “Hare Rama Hare Krishna,” and “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja” from “Caravan,” among many others.
